|Used books altered into a wallhanging|
Old - or used - books should not be thrown away. And I am glad that there are still people collecting or selling precious old books, that people with enormous patience and skills restore and preserve old books. A new printed book can never have the same charisma as an old one: there is this earthy, wooden and dusty smell of the paper, there are sometimes fingerprints, stains, underlines or written comments of former readers....there is always a history, a whole past world behind these old bookpages. When I leaf through such a book, I can't help wondering who printed this book, who bought it and why, who read it, how many people hold this book in their hands.... Of course, there are a lot of used books, which have no sentimental or commercial value anymore and mostly these books - I hope so - are recycled. But we still try to use some of them for our creations....thus preventing their disappearence!

|Old bookcovers altered to keepsake boxes....|
